For those of you apprehensive and putting yours off, do not. They sound way worse than they are. I've had zero discomfort. Easiest way there is to protect yourself from colon cancer.

I had mine on are you ready.......Friday the 13th, last week. The prep is the worse part really. It is my 4th one and I also get an endoscopy at the same time. I joke it is the same tube discount and ask they do the endoscopy first! Seriously it is very important you get this as soon as possible. When I was 50 (the 1st time insurance authorizes it) I had 10 polyps. I have had at least 5 each subsequent time. Now because of my esophagus and colon my children can get theirs starting at age 40. I do try to tell everyone the importance of it.

Oh my that’s so funny as I have also had both procedures booked at the same time. I joked if they were going to be done concurrently and meet in the middle! The Doctor didn’t crack a smile but the nurses did.
It can be a life saving procedure and I too encourage friends and family to get theirs done.

Honestly it is pretty unpleasant, but as others pointed out still important and pretty much more and more necessary as the years slide by... haha yeah!? Good call, Doc never bought me a drink either...

When I had my 50-year colon party it was extremely uneventful, and waking up from the anesthesia was the most relaxed and rested I can remember being. The one glitch was the night before. The building where I lived was doing plumbing work that day, so I held off the purge until after it was supposed to be finished, Guess what wasn't completed on time? And I hadn't thought to have a tubful of water saved for "just in case", so my bathroom was quite foul for a few hours.

Agree with everyone else, make sure you get this done. Don't neglect your plumbing, or else!

Great responses today. I started getting mine early, around 40, since my mother died of colon cancer. The prep is the most unpleasant part. I remember nothing of the procedures. Out like a light and no discomfort afterwards.

If you want a great laugh search for Dave Barry's article about his first exam after his brother was diagnosed with cancer. Important and lol funny.

I have read Dave Barry's article when it came out. It'a a classic.
Seriously, everyone. DO NOT miss getting yours done. The prep liquids have vastly improved. Miralax is colorless, tasteless, and odorless for one. Drink whatever prep you get ICE COLD and dont sip- drink it all. Get a good book and get ready. The life you save will be your own
